Expeditiously construct berths 5 and 6 of Hai Phong international gateway port into operation before the first quarter of 2025

On March 20, leaders of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority (HEZA) visited and directly removed obstacles to speed up the construction of berths 5 and 6 of the international gateway port Hai Phong Economic Zone in Lach Huyen.

The construction unit is speeding up the construction of berths 5 and 6 of Hai Phong international gateway port at Lach Huyen.

These are the two largest ports of Hai Phong International Gateway Port, invested by Hateco Group with a total investment of nearly 9,000 billion VND.
General Director of Hateco Hai Phong International Container Port Company Limited Nguyen Van Tien said: The project was started in July 2022, up to now, items such as design, foundation construction, yard construction, etc. requirements have been ensured on schedule.


Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority, together with the investor and construction unit, evaluate the progress of the project.

The investor and construction contractors are trying to speed up the construction progress, striving to complete this national key project and put it into operation before the first quarter of 2025.

When completed, with a length of 450m each, these will be the two largest ports in the region that can receive container ships with a capacity of 18 thousand to 20 thousand Teus to dock safely.

When completed, berths 5 and 6 will be the two largest and most modern wharfs in the region.

Thus, these berths are not only eligible to receive large container ships specializing in North America, but also ensure the ability to receive large container ships running to Europe.

At the same time, the port's 2 barge berths with a length of 200m can receive ships with a capacity of 160 Teus.

Along with that, Hateco Group intends to build these two ports to become the most modern container port and the largest smart port in Vietnam.

Currently, construction contractors have leveled and created yards at 68%; construction of temporary dike reached nearly 80%; sand pumping and leveling to create a yard to an elevation of +3.6m, reaching nearly 63% and is expected to be completed in June 2023.

The works: geological survey drilling, temporary wharf construction, CDM & RAS test pile construction have been completed. At the end of this March, mass pile construction will be carried out and pile construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2023. 


Leaders solve difficulties and problems at the construction site.

After the field visit, Head of Hai Phong Economic Zone Management Board Le Trung Kien discussed, directly solved and removed some problems of the project to speed up the construction progress.

In which, there are problems related to temporary power supply for the construction of works; stable power grid to serve the port's operations after completion; Temporary road for project construction…

The head of the Hai Phong Economic Zone Authority also noted the opinions of businesses, asking the competent authorities to soon start building a traffic route behind the port to be used by the entire seaport system in the region in order to promote effective when ports are put into operation.
